Changing the swimming lesson format in 2025

We will be changing the format for Swimming Lessons in 2025
Session will run from Monday-Friday (ONLY 1 Week)
There will be three sessions with the last week in June used for make up days in case of rain.

Schedules are listed below.

SWIMMING  LESSON registrations opened on APRIL 1, 2025

Swimming Lessons are offered to both CERA members and non-member of the surrounding community.  We want kids to have a place to learn their swimming skills and have fun in the process. Go to the Events page to sign up today.

What is your child's
skill level when it
comes to swimming?

The Beginner Level

Students need to be potty trained to enroll. Potty training is at different age depending on child. In my opinion, four years of age is the best time to put a child in group swimming lessons. The expectation for this class is LEARNING to SWIM. Learning to swim can be fun. We use games and toys to help support the process. Ideally the “Doggy Paddle” is what we want to accomplish. This class is forty five minute of “in water “time and allow ten minute for transition. Total time is fifty five minute. Optimum size of class is ten.

Intermediate Level

Students need to know how to swim, on their own for at least ten yards. The expectation in this class is to learn the three basic strokes: Freestyle, Breast and Back. This is NOT Red Cross, but we will do many skills acknowledged by the Red Cross Organization.   This is a one hour class, optimum class size is ten.

Expectation of students;

                              Swimming for Beginners
AGE: 4 and up
FUN and basic learn to swim
After this basic introduction into swimming your swimmer should be taught the following: Blowing bubbles, holding breath, kicking legs/feet, doggy- padding, freestyle, jumping off the side, floating, jumping into the deep end with help. The class will start in the small pool and be completed in the large
pool. If you have a 3-year-old and want to join this class please be ready to help your student understand how
to stay safe, respect others time and learn to swim. The swimmer will be given 3 chances to follow directions (prompts). If the swimmer cannot follow directions, we will ask them to leave the lesson and try again tomorrow. Sometimes at 3, the swimmer will do better with a 1-to-1 ratio. Private lessons are
offered for additional cost.

The expectations for the beginner class is to create a lifetime of love for the water. This can best happen when your swimmer is ready to “learn to swim”. How will you know if they are ready? They can splash water during bath/shower and have a smile on their face. They can go into a body of water (pool, river,
lake or ocean with no fear). Suggestion to help your swimmer to be the most successful during the
   Lessons:
- sunblock applied on prior to lesson (10-15 minutes before)
-practice in the bath/ shower
   Equipment needed for this lesson:
-googles, kick board, noodle, dive toys (we have all these however if you can bring your own its best)

                    Swimming for intermediate / advance
AGE: 6 and up
Intermediate swimmer can swim with ease 10 or more yards using the freestyle (doggy-paddy is okay) or
backstroke. They can float unassisted and jump into the deep-in and swim to the side independently.
Advance swimmer can do 25 or more yards using any or all four strokes, float and tread wear, stand dive
and float independently.

The expectations for this class to grow the ability to swim longer, prettier, faster and learn up to seven
strokes. We will play games in the deep -in and also learn to dive. Advance and Intermediate students
are encouraging to join this class. We will differentiate base on the need of the roster.
